Corner Fireplace--Need help!

This fireplace is part of an addition built in 1960. It is a corner FP, so it is open of 2 sides. It sits in the corner of the room. It has a floating cement hearth.

We do not like anything about this FP, but we do like having one in the room.

Is it possible to:

1. Make it only open in the front?

2. Build a "facade" to make it look like it is more traditional, with the opeing in the middle of a more symmetrical FP, with 18" on each side?

3. Include this FP as part of a wall of built-ins, housing a TV, media components, and storage?

Right now it is just an ugly spot for storage of toys, etc, not to mention a HUGE cold air wind tunnel in the winter.

Help! Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks so much!
