| I'm planning to have some work done on my fireplace.
The fire box in the back is cracked and needs to be repaired. The contractor is recommending a heat shield for $225. Is a heat shield necessary after the repair and does the price seem right? I've seen stainless heat shields on the web for ~$150. |

| I would do your research. When I replaced my chimney liner I found the people over at Chimney Liner Depot were very help on all fireplace/ chimney subjects. I would give them a call and see if they can help. |
