My fireplace currently has ugly doors. I'd love to switch to a pretty screen. The problem is that I often either leave the house or go to bed towards the tail end of a fire. I can't close the flu because the fire is still going, so I need to close the doors. If I got rid of my doors, I fear I would ultimately leave the flu open for hours once the fire ultimately dies and end up paying to heat the outdoors! Has anyone found a way to have a screen but still avoid this type of problem?
