Fireplace insert

Does anyone have an Avalon AVH-1000 wood burning fireplace insert? I am trying to find a manual and also need a blower fan and not sure if I should get a rear mount or front mount blower. Thanks for any advise.

RE: Fireplace insert

That unit is an early 80s insert. It was made before Travis Industries aquired them.

We call those stoves "Smoke Dragons" because they are not EPA certified and are, by today's standards, very inefficient and dirty. (Polluting)

To be honest, that insert has lived a very good and useful life, and it's time to consider retiring it. Replacement parts and things like the manual are rare as hen's teeth.

RE: Fireplace insert

The date stamp on this one says 1984. Are they more polluting than a regular fireplace, or is it just that there are more efficient models?
