Bricks for outdoor fire pit/grill

I am looking to build a brick fire pit/grill.

I have a stack of old red bricks from a chimney that was removed from the house.

I am assuming they will hold up to the weather, not sure about the intense heat. Or would I build from cinder blocks then face the outside with these red bricks?

Go ahead, use red bricks they will sustain the heat

I used red brick in an incinerator I made. They cracked and broke at the top where ir was hottest. I should have used refracory brick as red bricks are on the outside of the chimney while the fire goes up the inside lined with chimney flues.
