We're getting our living room painted a tan color (BM Monroe Bisque) and our trim Swiss Coffee. The painters want to paint the entire fireplace mantle the same as the trim, but I wonder if a an accent color (a little darker than the wall) might look nicer. However, I have no idea what that color should be. Plus, it would have to go with the existing reddish oak floors and our cherry wood furniture.

BTW, the rug, existing furniture, belong to the previous owner. I have a black rug with tan, cream, and rust that I plan to use. And, I'm thinking of maybe whitewashing the fireplace at some point.

Any advice for a fireplace accent color would be much appreciated!
