Harman Stove Finish Damage

Posted by corgaff (My Page) on

I have a P68, three years old. When we returned from vacation a few weeks ago I noticed damage to the finish. Large (2 to 3 inch) areas on the side and beside the door have peeled paint. Sections of the top have become rough. It almost looks as if the finish has been attacked by some kind of agent. When the tech did the cleaning this spring he gave the entire stove a coat of WD40, but that shouldn't have caused this damage.

The stove has to be repainted, of course, but I'd like to know what caused the problem. Has anyone seen damage like this?
