| I was wondering if anyone has experience with putting a firerock fireplace or other modular masonry fireplace on a second floor? We really like the look of these but our contractor is balking at the weight of the unit. The website says their lite unit will be fine in that location but if anyone has experience with this I would love to hear about it. |

| Depends on your supporting structure of the floor. to pass code you would have to have the floor engineered and plan stamped to say the floor could support around 2400# thats about what the lite unit weighs. We were concidering the same unit but decided to go with the conventional FireRock in the lower level and directly above we are using a heatilator birmingham. Just a BIG deal to do the floor support and venting with our plan. Many people use the fireRock on second floors but support them with cement block foundation. |
