Our outddor chimmney, is starting to have a few bricks, break off, and some coming loose and out etc.

How serious is that,, and is it a good idea to have them replaced along wth any repointing that might be needed? All in all, it doenst look to be in too bad shape, I am more concerned with preventive maintenace.
