We are looking at the smaller, greensmart (33" or so) direct vent models and like the way the flame can be turned to very low, because we're not using the fp for heat (we have lp gas). Seems like the Avalon is the same model only with fewer options. True? Can anyone recommend one over the other? Does offering fewer options make the Avalon less expensive than the Xtrodinaire? Is the Avalon lower quality?

We installed two Xtrodinaire gas fireplaces, back to back, in two different rooms. We finsihed the one in the living room in a traditional cherry mantel and the one in the Great room in stone. Both look outrageous and we are very happy with the fireplace product. I don't know much about the Avalon but can tell you we are very happy with the Xtrodinaire.

I second the Xtrodinaire. I replaced a wood burning fire place with one. Looks fantastic and works even better. Love all the options available which enable me to use it for heating or just for ambience. Abbey
