I am thinking of purchasing a Mendota gas fireplace, it is a top of the line. The reason I like it is, it is the only one I can find that can be turned down to 6000 BTU's. I have found when at other peoples homes that there rooms get to hot and there gas fire places can not turn down below 16,000 BTU's. MY real question is I live in Massachusetts and have KEY SPAN GAS COMPANY. Does anyone know what it would cost to run one of these fireplaces for about 8 hours a day say for 31 days? I can get no answers from Key Span.
The cost to buy and install this unit is very expensive over $6500.00 so if it is to costly to run, what would be the point. I have heard it will quadruple my gas bill. Any help out here will be appreciated.
