Humidifier for Top Loading Wood Stove

We are new to wood heat. We have a new, top loading stove and want to be able to use a humidifier on top. I am imagining it will need a trivet. We are trying to advoid taking alot of too hot to handle parts each time we need to add wood. Does anyone use a humidifier in their top loader?

Our 'humidifier' is a cast iron pot full of water. You place it right on the stove. And when you need to load the stove, you simply place the pot on the hearth. It's really no big deal.
