Napoleon Pellet Stove Problem - Cracked Firebox

My Napoleon NPS40 pellet stove is less than 5 years old and it recently developed a hairline crack in the steel plate of the firebox. The crack is about 3 inches long and runs along the left side of the pellet tube. I am wondering if I can just use some furnace cement to fill this crack or does the stove need to be repaired by a welding process. Not sure how/why the crack developed.

A crack is not a good thing! I'd contact the manufacturer to seek their advice first.

We have regular fireplaces, and a chimney sweep explained the danger of the hairline crack in the floor of one of ours. We had to have the entire fire box replaced, and the cost was "Peace of Mind."
