Gas Fireplace Clicking Noise?

Posted by snikcilla (My Page) on

Have an old FMI direct vent gas fireplace with electric ignition.

Usually I flip the wall switch, then a few seconds later hear one loud click and then flames start. Now I hear the very same loud click, and the flames start, but then the clicking continues every 10 seconds or so, indefinitely.

I think it is the ignition clicking?, but why would it continue to click once flames started? It's definitely a switch or something similar clicking. (Not metal contracting). What could be the clicking noise?

Thank you.

You're hearing the igniter. It's malfunctioning. Get it serviced.
