Seating on raised hearth Napolean HD 81

Posted by radoncdoc (My Page) on

I was hoping for some advice. On our new build we are planning on a double sided Napolean HD 81. It is a raised hearth, to keep the modern look we are not doing a mantle or a surround, but we really wanted a seating area in front of the fireplace. Any suggestions to keep the modern look and still do an attached seating area?

I was thinking of having the cotnractor build up a box with bluestone or limestone top flush with the fireplace?

thanks

I would want you to wait until the unit is installed and operating before building anything permanent there. Depending on the ambient heat created from the unit seating may be too close to the flame for any comfort level.

Thanks for the advice. I think its a good idea to wait, but what do you think will look good assuming we did a bench?

I think it will look great, I love the modern look, clean lines, clutterless. Actually I was thinking a simple backless bench that matches the sofas at each end. But I don't think you want design ideas from me, just ask my wife. Heck I stuck a mounted Muskelunge on the kitchen wall as decoration.
