Glass Tile surround and on floor

We're looking to retile the surround on our fireplace with glass tile. It currently has ceramic around the firebox and on the floor directly in front (no raised hearth). Are we just asking for trouble if we tile the floor in glass? It's not a traffic area. Opinions, please...
