 o
Hearth Size...

Is there a standard width for a hearth. Would 12" be adequate. We are looking at the Xtrodinaire Direct-Vent gas 36 or 44 and the difference in the depth of the box size is about 4". If we go with the 44, thaen I definitely think a 12' hearth would be enough as I don't want it this fireplace to take over the whole room. By the way, this a new house.
Thanks!

RE: Hearth Size...

Check out your local building code. It will tell you the minimum hearth size, usually based upon the size of your fireplace opening. You can always go larger than this but never smaller for safety reasons.
