Wall furnace wanted, or similar

We are looking for a backup propane heat source, for when the electricity goes out or the temperatures are very cold and the heatpump cannot keep up. We do have a small set of ventfree gas logs that can warm the kitchen/dining area but we purchased these 20 years ago, they look great and really heat the area but I do notice a smell after just a few minutes. So for another room, we would like to get a direct-vent heat source(furnace, heater, ?) that is wall mounted. I have seen nothing even somewhat attractive in my searches so far.

An odd odor from unvented gas logs should have you turning off the gas and calling a qualified person for repairs. You will find that among the many warnings the manufacturer issues in writing in the instruction manual for the fireplace.

Not using it for a heating source would be another. No doubt there are others.
