Vented gas Fireplace

Posted by dilly_ny (My Page) on

I am looking for a vented gas fireplace that is affordable. We are building an extension on our house and it would be ideal to put in a gas fireplace during construction (as opposed to at a later date). We price a Heat and Glow slimline system and it seems it would cost over$4,000 for all the necessary parts and installation and then we would have to add plumber and electrician costs. Ideally, a narrow depth unit would work best. The slimline is 16" deep. Does anyone know of a better value? Thanks!

RE: Vented gas Fireplace

You can get a much better price for a fireplace to meet your requirements. Heat n Glo's SL series is their entry level gas fireplace, but they still mark it up.

I went with a Napoleon GD36. It has tons of options to change the look and it only has a depth of 14".

I bought mine online through a company called Custom Fireplace Supply. They were super friendly and gave me support during the install as well. Their price was the best I found anywhere. You have to contact them to get a good deal, as they can only give the minimum advertised price online.

Here is the fireplace I bought:
