Gas firplace not igniting??

My upstairs Natural Gas Fireplace will not ignite. It is wall switch operated, the Pilot is on and lighted, I can hear a click in the Fireplace when I flip the switch so the switch is good. Any idea a to what has failed? Does something need to be cleaned?

That you hear a click in the fireplace suggests that the electric gas valve that's usually in the bottom of the fireplace is turning on. I'd check the control knob on the gas valve to be sure it's in the "on" and not the "pilot" position.

If your gas valve knob is actually in the "on" position...you may have a spider web in the main burner orifice. It is probably time to call a technician.
