Do you have a metal spark cap on the fireplaces?

metal spark cap or, often, if you have pre-fab fireplaces w/ wooden (sided) chases, there's a sheet metal cap on the chase that tends to do this. It's very common and not a problem.

I don't know if we have a metal spark cap or if they are pre-fab. Little help I am, lol. We had this house built in 1996.

I'm glad to hear that it's very common and no problem, as I actually like the rain pinging sound.
