Fireplace pilot will not light

Hello all, I've searched and searched but cannot find much reg. my issue.

I have a gas fireplace, it will not light at all. Gas valve is on,
When I turn the knob to pilot, and press, I hear the gas coming out, when I press the igniter, no pilot light.
I have tried using a BBQ lighter to light the pilot light too, but nothing.
Last time I had it running was last April and it's been shut off since. I remember last year It took a long time to light but did finally get it going.

If anyone has any suggestion please let me know.
The fireplace uses a thermostat on the wall to controll the temp In the house, so it shuts on and off on its own. It also has a fan. Btw I have checked to make sure the thermostat is set to on and set the temp higher on it.

I cannot find any info on make or model.
