If you go to either the Appliance Forum or the Cleaning Forum and search for posts dealing with how to clean the smooth tops of electric stoves, and follow those directions, it probably will work. If I remember correctly, you take a one-sided razor blade (the kind you get from the hardware store that's used to scrap paint off windows), and you hold the blade at a very small angle against the glass, and scrape gently. Of course, you do this when the fireplace is cold. Be patient. Go slowly and carefully. You might want to clean off the residue, after you finish scraping, by using that special cleaning agent that's made for smooth top electric stoves.

Good advice from HAUS . While you are at it, use 90% alcohol. It should serve as a release solution and further help prevent scratches.
