new gas insert not working

I had a gas insert (fireplace xtradorinair) installed several weeks ago. Everything has been great until today. The fireplace is not coming on when I used the remote. I checked the fireplace to make sure the receiver is on (it was) and I checked to make sure the batteries weren't low (they aren't) and that the child proof option wasn't on (it wasn't). Of course it is New Years day, so I cannot call anyone. Does anyone have a thought what it might be or if there is anything else I can try? It was fine last night. The pilot light is on, but no flame action when I push the on button. I will of course call the company I bought it from on Monday, just looking for some advance info and or advice.

thanks for the help texas chimney pro. I found the problem. Although the receiver looked like it was on, it apparently wasn't. I don't know how it got turned off, as I hadn't looked behind that panel once since it got installed. None the less the receiver was off (although I thought it was on, homeowner needs new glasses, lol) and once I got it back on all was well. I was just getting ready to answer my own post and explain it was homeowner error when I saw your very helpful reply. I am going to print it out in case I have further problems. Thank you so much for replying.
