| We moved into a new build last summer, and began using our wood fireplace this winter. The firebox is a gray-like color, and from use we now have black streaks on the back and partial sides of the box.
Is the black simply soot, or has the original color of the firebox "melted away"? Once winter is over, would our best bet be to repaint the firebox in black? Trying to see what would be the best way for maintenance/cleaning come spring. Thank you! |
