| hi all i have purchased a fireplace very like the one pictured, my question is apart from grate etc is this good to go? can i take out old clay fireback and insert this in its place? im mostly confused because others i looked at had flaps at the top, but this is a hole at the back, and also how do i fix it to the wall as there is no fixing holes many thanks chris please note the one i got is very much in better condition lol |

| No you don't remove firebrick. Those flappers are air dampers to control the air flow for combustion. From your question I would say don't touch a thing, fire is nothing to be trifled with mate, not a DIY project, call in a pro for advice. |
