Supporting solid wood mantel

My wife and I are redoing our fireplace wall. As part of this we have just been given a 11" high by 11" deep solid mantel (reclaimed from a dilapidated warehouse). This piece of wood is heavy so I'm looking for ideas on how to support it. I should mention that the this is for an existing house and the fireplace wall is brick. Thanks.
