You can enter securities transactions, but the more specific update is that you can't enter any more than 99,999 shares in any one given transaction. Since I trade on the OTC sometimes, I have more than 100,000 shares in several transactions. SO, I was forced to use TaxAct, which just has a 15 character limit in the description line. Intuit lost me on that, had no choice. I can also say, now that I've filed AND gotten my returns accepted, that TaxAct was almost as easy as TurboTax -- the only problem was ease of navigation, and the significantly lower cost made the *only somewhat* less easy navigation very easy to take. But the rest of it was fine. OH, the only other problem was that I couldn't import from ItsDeductible, since ID has an exclusive w/Intuit. So I paid for the ID ($20) and paid for the state and local prep/filing (16), grand total of $36 and I'm done. Their communications were timely and much more helpful than Intuit's ever were. The people who are really going to get shafted is anyone who made under the cap for the goodie bag in 2006 and don't qualify in 2008. They'll get the rebate and then owe it back. I'm hoping that they will base it on the 2007 AGI (because I went be to work Jan 2,2008). In other words, the government cuts the check based on the 2006 return but then will adjust on the 2007 return. Then if the taxpayer makes ovr ethe threshold in 2007, they will owe it back in 2008. AcK! If the plan is this confusing how can it be good or even reasonable?

Stimulus payments will be issued in the name of the individual eligible for payment on a filed 2007 income tax return or to the account designated by the individual on that return. Any issues or concerns involving a decedent's filed return or the related stimulus payment should be addressed by the legal representative of the decedent's estate. This whole GIANT "rebate" on outrageous taxes is just a little blip in our life. We owe the IRS $6000 for 2007 (investment income=retirement, hopefully, someday, before we're over 100 yrs. old.) And DH has been unemployed 3 mos. now. The unemployment insurance barely covers the morgage & horrendous property taxes ($1300) and COBRA/health insurance is costing us almost $900/mo. I guess we'll use the "tax rebate" for food. . . . . Here we go again -- been here too many time already. . . .
