Are we in a 'financial crash?'

This morning I awoke to the news that the overseas markets along with our U.S. market is in trouble?!?! What else is new? But with the tragic news of Bear Stearns going "belly-up" and Greenspan stating that the econonmy hasn't been this bad since WWWII, one has to wonder what the future holds for us? What will happen to interest rates and more importantly mortgage rates now?
