Comments (5)The child tax credit is refundable under some circumstances. eg the IRS can send you a check. If you do your own taxes, you'll need IRS form 8812. The rules seem a bit complicated though so you might want to have a professional look at your taxes at least once. Many of the tax prep companies offer discounted services to vets. If you don't have money for that, you should check out the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program. Comments (2)Just moving it back up a bit. Some who might find it useful may not have seen it earlier. That amount that a single person can earn without being liable to pay one cent of income tax claimed above is incorrect. The correct figure was $46,345.00. in 2006 ... if solely dividends on Canadian stocks, with no other income, no income tax is payable by a single taxpayer. Comments (3)$170 is a great price to clean the coil - I'd look over the blower-wheel as well, since if one is dirty, the other is likely to also be dirty, and they both have the same effect - lowered efficiency due to reduced airflow. If the system is otherwise functional, I'd agree to keep it around myself - I also believe the tax-credit has inflated prices - and better, more efficient systems are being released constantly. That "tax credit qualified" unit is likely to become a bottom-shelf unit in a couple of years. FWIW, you didn't mention insulation - a 1993 home in a climate like Dallas may not have much attic insulation. I had cellulose blown into my attic to take it from R-19 to R-49, and the difference in comfort was amazing. It also made a noticeable dent in my cooling bills. If you really want to get some of that tax-credit money, and lower the workload of that existing system, I'd think about blowing in some additional insulation. For my 1800 sq/ft home the cost was about $800 - half of which would come back from the feds with the tax credit....See MoreQuotes 8 - 28 - 17
Comments (3)I was born and grew up in Frankfurt, Goethe was part of my learning & my environment. The story of Faust, somewhat simplified, was one of the tales Mother told her children. I read the quotes early this morning with my coffee, butdidn't comment then - had to go out and water and other outdoor work was needed. Having a serious heat-wave, it's 105 right now....See Morescryn
