Go to your local feed&seed or coop store and buy some seed potatoes. Cut them into chunks wherever you see an eye sprouting. Buy some powdered sulfur and sprinkle it all over the raw potato, like flouring chicken before frying. Let them sit overnight. This will cauterize the wounds and help keep the potato from rotting once buried. Commercially grown potatoes are treated to keep them from sprouting eyes but you can go to the grocery store, buy a few potatoes, wash them with soap and water and put them in a dark, warm place. They will begin to sprout. Better still, ask the produce manager at your grocery store if he has any sprouted potatoes he has culled. He may not be able to give them to you but he will probably sell them for next to nothing. One plant will grow a bunch of potatoes.

When we started using our Wolf AG range (same burner type as rangetop?), our old Farberware and Revere Ware pans would scorch along the bottom edge (inside), and then be a PITA to clean. I decided to purchase an All-Clad French Skillet (offered at an introductory price since they'd just come out, and then used a coupon as well). The A-C pan performed much better--more even heating/cooking/ no scorching (or very little, which deglazed quickly once juices were released or some liquid added), and the A-C pan was much easier to clean as well (a small sprinkle of BKF and a blue scrub sponge keeps mine looking terrific). Using coupons and other introductory specials, I fulfilled my holiday wish list that first year by purchasing a small set of All-Clad pots and pans, along with a few open stock pieces. I am very happy with their performance on my range. Mine are the orignal tri-ply SS pans. I know Williams Sonoma is now selling the new d5 A-C (5-ply), but I don't know if they are that much better or not. They are heavier, as are the lids with their larger handles, but all the pans have pouring "lips," which the tri-ply do not (which is not a big PITA like I'd thought it would be), and the long handles on the pots/pans have been re-designed to make them more user-friendly, but again, don't know if they really are, or not.

Threejsmom, expense is a major consideration for me, alright, and the idea of interchangeable sets is very appealing. It's good to know about the fact that Addi Naturas can catch the fine yarn. I have started over with new yarn for the baby sweater I mentioned while I was waiting for help on a specific knit Pony Blocks Baby afghan pattern. But this baby cardigan has in the round sleeves which necessitates my learning something that looks similar to making socks which also stikes my fancy (peaks my interest as many seem to really enjoy making them). Since I am a new beginner at knitting in the round, I THINK it may be more helpful for me to have more drag. By chance, did you look at the free pattern I gave the link to on the baby cardigan? I want the sleeves to turn out, so I am hoping the socks instructions will be of help to me, too. I have already purchased the Brittany 7" dnps, so must stick with them. Have you knit sleeves in the round, and do you think watching or studying sock pattern knitting on the net will be what I need to accomplish these sleeves successfully? I am feeling intimidated, but do so want to learn. Marvel

Those are cute Terriks! Stylish toe, not too pointy but just right! Some detail but not too much. The heel looks good but I cannot tell the height. WhatâÂÂs the brand? Oh boy, it just dawned on me tonight that I did something incredible stupid when I sold the house. In order to get all my clothes and husbands clothes in the closet at sons house (we are staying here till we find a house to buy) I packed most of our colder weather clothes and put them in one of the two large storage lockers. I have no idea where they are in the storage lockers. So, now IâÂÂm going to have buy some cardigans as wellâ¦a new black purseâ¦and??? ItâÂÂs a sad time which is causing me to lose focus on some basics I need especially now that I have to buy more stuff. I always get a bit wigged on my concentration when feeling stressed. Some of you may remember me posting about my aunt with seven inoperable brain tumors. That was I think 2 years and close to six months ago. We sort of grew up together as she is only four years older. Things are not looking good. She is in the hospital now and her husband is waiting to get some direction from their main doctor. She went well past her life expectancy and up till recently kept up with her social life. She did not have much use of one side of her body ( wheelchair) but never lost her sharp mind. I just spoke to her last week and she said she was holding her own. Since then one of the tumors moved and she is going downhill pretty fast as far as pain, communication and movement goes. She can still respond a tiny bit though and seems to recognize people. ItâÂÂs all so sad even though we have all known that there would not be a happy ending.
