| ... just voted themselves 25 - 30% raise in their own compensation.
And they added $000.25 to the rate of the minimum wage that employers are required to pay their employees, bringing it to $8.00 per hour. SSince many full-time employees work about 2,000 hours/year ... ... do you know how to live on $16,000 per year? Even if you are a full-time employee - and a large and increasing number of employees work part-time (no benefits required). Or on contract, an uncertain existence. I'm rather thankful to be retired, and out of that rat-race. ole joyful |

| Not sure how everyone voted ... ... but there was a built-in provision ... ... that some of the mouthy ones that railed against it (the "democratic solialists", mostly) ... ... could decline taking it - which would be permanent. NO ONE DECLINED! Several (mainly the "democratic socialists, I think) said that they were going to contribute (at least a portion of their increased amount) to charities. Sometimes it gets hard to put our money on our mouth. Good wishes to you and yours. ole joyful |

| I am remiss - haven't visited our legislators' local offices to remonstrate. Or our Federal legislators' offices to complain about their arranging for their (somewhat wealthy) friends to have an increase in potential income without liability to pay one cent of income tax from about $27,000. to about $45,000. - in one year! For most folks - it's been about $10,000. - and continues at about that level, slightly higher annually. Stinkers. o j |
