Tax Deduction - Origination Fee on Refinance

Paid an origination fee when I refinanced my 30-year mortgage this year. Thought I read somewhere that you can only deduct 1/30th of the origination fee each year on a 30-year mortgage refinance (or 1/20th on 20-year, etc.). Thanks for your feedback.

That is correct. You can deduct your points the first year on a purchase, but you must spread them out over the life of the loan for a refinance.
