IRS Seizure Question

Posted by xminion (My Page) on

Greetings,

A local musician had his music shop seized by the IRS recently - everythig is gone.

However, some guitars, books, tapes, etc. were on consignment, or in for repair, in that shop and did not belong to the proprietor.

To the point:

Can a third party,(legal or lay), or proprietor, petition the IRS before auction to return the consigned items to their rightful owners?

Their only crime was to be duped into putting merchandise on repair/consignment with him, while the owner knew full well the day he had to face the IRS was nigh.

Any info appreciated.

RE: IRS Seizure Question

Call the IRS and ask them. There is a similar problem here in our city. A theme park went bankrupt and everything was taken for debts. Some of the equipment had not been paid for, some was leased. Some owners got their stuff back others didn't.
