I think the process might be a little different although, now that I think of it, WisteriaPath might be able to replace the filler strips without having to completely slide the top off the range. If I recall correctly for my DRGB3001 -- I got these instructions from Duro Customer Service some time ago and can't find my notes, so this is coming from my admittedly faulty memory --- you start by taking off the backsplash/vent/riser (5 screws) which exposes the back end of the top and the screws which hold down the back end(s) of the spacer(s) (what WisteriaPath called mouldings). Take out those screws. Go around to the front of the stove and pull the knobs. Open the oven door, kneel down and look up at the bottom of the control panel piece. You will see screws that fasten it to the frame. Remove those screws. You can now move the control panel out of the way. Look up to the underside of the top and see the bent tabs holding down front end(s) of the spacer/moulding(s). Pry those back to where you can pull the spacer/moulding. If you do need to remove the entire top, you'll need to take out the burner ignitor posts (otherwise, they block the top from sliding back.) If memory serves, you have to reach in through the front and back openings you have exposed to get to the underside of the bases and take off the wires and the nuts that hold the ignitors in place. Once they are removed, I think you can then slide the top out the back. Reassembly is the reverse. This post was edited by JWVideo on Thu, Nov 6, 14 at 11:34

AFUE ratings don't mean much when it comes to comparing fuel efficiency. There are too many criteria used in the testing that don't reflect real world use. In addition, the installation and boiler sizing can have a bearing on fuel consumption. AFUE assumes that the boiler is sized correctly for a design day and does not consider stack loss through a barometric or jacket loss, etc. An incorrect installation can have a boiler sit at full temperature for long periods of time and only cycle intermittently to maintain that temp rather than heat up, deliver the heat, then purge out and shut down.

Some like to time the market ... ... some don't, figuring that brokers like to suggest that ... as the commissions make them rich. How about buying a quality stock 47 years ago for $4.17 (seems like a lot of "4"s and "7"s here), paying about 10 - 12 cents dividend annually, at low tax rate . Stock value went up ... down ... and sideways. In 2007, could have sold for about $107 (not sure whether it topped some higher), paying $3.08 per year - at even lower tax rate. In the fall of '07, they increased the dividend by 40 cents, almost 10% of the original share price, to $3.48 annually ... granted, 40 years later. Shortly after that, they were involved in a financial almost-meltdown in another country ... share price skidded to about $40.00. Some said that they'd cut the dividend, but others said that they wouldn't dare, or it'd cut another leg off of the share price. Dividend rate continued at $3.48 for 4 years, then advanced, now is $4.00 per share. If I can remain alive a little longer ... maybe it'll achieve the $4.17 rate of annual payout that I paid for each share, those 50 or so years earlier. Share price now hovering around $100.00. I have some mutual funds, also - haven't bought any in 25 years. Those managers charge 2.5% annually for their supposed financial expertise ... but over 80% of them can't manage to grow faster that the segment of the market in which their various funds participate. Since I bought the shares that I mentioned above - haven't paid a cent to anyone for management. When I kick the bucket, the shares will be transferred to my offspring and the income tax people say that it's the same as though I'd sold them, so my estate will be liable for tax at regular rate on half of the capital gain. The start rate for share price for the kids will be the price on the date of transfer. Some will be transferred to a charity ... and there'll be no tax levied on the capital gain. So there's a tax advantage to giving shares with major appreciation to a charity. As I live, frugally, by choice rather than necessity, within my pensions, the investments are more or less "play money" ... until I need them, whether for advanced medical care, if not covered by our medical system, or home care, or residential or nursing home coverage. I have similar case....had to buy a whole new sheet because of the Kevlar Film layers were split....said my installers did it.....1K later.....film installed and shipped back other film, said they can reuse it and will give me my money back after they see how much they can reuse.....Have to cut 24' off, so that's waste...so I get back 50% of my money.....I sent back that I should get 60% back working off the numbers that they provided was going to be waste.....said he could do 55%.....I just said send the check, cause I know we will not see eye to eye and cut my losses where I can.
