What Vitamins do you Take?
Comments (24)Anyway, Kelly - wow! Your weight loss is quite an accomplishment! What type diet did you follow? Biotin is good for your nails too isn't it? Can you tell a difference there? Tina, I first started on Weight Watchers and exercise but even though I had wonderful success I decided that I wanted to know more about the calories and nutrients I was putting into my body. I switched to using an online journal (myfooddiary.com) that gives me more detailed info including what percent of my calories are coming from fat/carbs/protein. I'm doing some serious weight lifting and need to keep my protein up to 30-35%. My total calories that I eat everyday is based on my resting metabolic rate and the calories I burn through working out. If I have a light workout day I eat fewer calories. When I'm really on top of things and meeting my daily goals I can easily lose 2.5 to 3lbs per week. Biotin is great for nails and hair as well as boosting the metabolism. I have a hypothyroid and starting taking medication a year ago and my hair fell out badly. It's still not back to the way it was but is a little thicker. Yes, the niacin reaction is immediate. I don't get the hot flash feeling or flushing (which is weird because I am very fair and flush very easily). My rash is/was a ring around my neck and slightly raised. It took a little over a week to go away....See MoreVitamins.....Do you take them??
Comments (34)Geritol (liquid vitamin) is made from Brewer's yeast (by product of beer-industry). I love taking Brewer's yeast since it's a natural food-product, rather than refined chemicals. People give NOW's brewer's yeast thumb-down due to its bitterness, but U of Michigan Medical website stated that for brewer's yeast to be effective, it should be bitter. I mix 1/2 Tablespoon of brewer's yeast with 1 cup of milk, plus 1 heaping tablespoon of buckwheat honey, and it tastes great. It really stabilized my blood sugar, and helped me to lose weight & plus extra energy. I can see why many people report increased energy with vitamins or brewer's yeast (high in B-complex, chromium and selenium). Have been taking brewer's yeast for 1 year .. hair is super thick, at 52-year-old .. it really help with healthy hair. I took Brewer's yeast initially to repel bugs & mosquitoes when I worked in the garden ... but like the extra-energy & less cravings that I kept doing it even in the winter. Folks give brewer's yeast to their pets for shiny & smooth coat of hair, plus to repel fleas. Below is U. of Maryland Medical Center on Brewer's yeast, at $8 per pound, it's a lot cheaper than vitamins & plus help to prevent colds & flu: http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/supplement/brewers-yeast Below link lists caution if you take medications along with brewer's yeast Brewer's yeast contains a large amount of tyramine, a substance that can interact with MAOIs and cause a hypertensive crisis Source: Possible Interactions with: Brewer's Yeast | University of Maryland Medical Center http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/supplement-interaction/possible-interactions-with-brewers-yeast#ixzz3Zmk9uIfc...See MoreHave you noticed price increases at Goodwill?
Comments (27)The one near me has always been what I consider on the high end of second hand pricing. Shirts range from $3.99 to $6.99. Jeans are in the $6.99 - $9.99 range. A few months ago, I was looking for a watering can and found one at GW. It was priced higher than a new one from Home Depot. It helps to have some knowledge of retail pricing in order to determine if one is getting a good deal in the thrift stores. I know that I can find new tshirts cheaper at Walmart and some of the other big retailers than I can at GW, but I also know that I will not be able to find a brand new, tags still on, leather jacket for $5 at any of the big retailers. Nor, will I come across a brand new London Fog down parka at WM for $5. Besides finding great deals like that, I enjoy the thrill of the hunt as well as knowing that thrifting helps keep perfectly good items from going to the landfills. In addition to shopping at GW, I also like to go to the smaller, more local shops. Based on how busy the stores are, it seems like there is room for both GW and the little guys, at least in my area. It's interesting - I go to the mall and it's deserted; I go to the thrift stores and they are packed with shoppers....See MoreAnyone Have a Really Great Pizza Sauce at Short Notice?
Comments (11)Pizza sauce should not be watery. From what I've seen, there are two schools of thought, one is to have a very light sauce with just chopped tomatoes, spices, a bit of olive oil. The other is to have a thicker 'Italian Sunday gravy' type of cooked down sauce which can include tomatoes, puree, chopped tomatoes, and paste. So for today, for this particular pizza, you can have either. Here I found a recipe for a light margarita sauce:. In a large saute pan over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons olive oil, the minced garlic, thyme and oregano. Cook until just fragrant then add the crushed tomatoes and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Lower the heat and simmer for 7 to 8 minutes to reduce and concentrate the flavor. If you want a thicker sauce, and all you have on hand in the way of tomatoes and you are not going to risk going to the store for a pizza, is canned tomatoes, you need to start cooking them down now if you want a thicker more intense sauce, and add some of the ingredients tigereye lists above. Good luck I'm excited for you and can't wait to hear how your pizza comes out!...See Moreandrew_plitt
