Yeah, folks past the 6 week mark, your comments are most welcomed to the rest of use newbies!!!! (This is my 19th day on the program with a 20 lb. loss!)

Any comments regarding the use of Nu-Salt? Did it cause a stall or weight gain?

    Happy weekend to all!

    Maxamo,
I read on the "official bullitin board" that nu-salt was a no-no thinking it has something to do with the potassium. I am still waiting to hear if fruit-2-0- is ok instead of plain water, heck seems to be working for me....

    6WBM - The Diet Club - ?? Answered

    Q

My hubby and I have been working this program for a little over 6 weeks and have lost 25 and 20 pounds respectively. It takes some adjustment - I am a bread/butter/sauce person, which is precisely why I needed this program. The biggest change is in how my clothes fit and how much more energy I have. We sometimes get tired of chicken and I don't eat fish, so that is limiting. Lack of salt was a problem at first, but after a while you start really tasting food again. Carrots are SOOOO sweet! We bake chicken using a little salt-free broth, water or white wine and then cut them into portions and refrigerate. I bake medium-sized red potatoes, sweet potatoes and steam fresh veggies. I boil eggs and then we use the whites in the morning, replacing the yolk (which our dogs find a great treat!) with fresh homemade salsa. I make our meals daily (lunches and snacks for workdays) picking from what I prepare over the weekend. It IS work, but like we tell people who ask, this is not a diet... it is a new way of eating. We will work the plan for a loss of another 20 pounds and then go on maintenance. I don't think we could ever go back to eating the way we did before!

    6 Week Bodymakeover

    Q

    Comments (4)
Well, after doing a lot of research, I purchased the six week body makeover through Provida's website, which was painless. I did the payments option which worked out well. I received my package about 7 days after my order. It didn't take long to organize the book and read the materials and check out the exercising tape. As soon as it was complete, I started my diet. It worked out great and I started to lose the weight. But I got frustrated with it because it's a lot of work! You have to prepare all of your meals in advance, well you don't have to, but it's what they recommend. Your never hungary, because you're eating all day long, so you're preparing several meals just for 1 day. Anyway, as a working mom with 2 kids and a husband, and a demanding career, it's hard to prepare the meals and stop and eat every 2 to 3 hours. I spend a lot of time working away from the office where there are no refrigerators and taking a cooler is nearly impossible. Maybe when work slows down a bit I'll get back on, but for now, it's too complicated. For those of you who have the time to spend fixing your meals...go for it. It does work. Good Luck! FYI: After purchasing the kit I found it much cheaper on ebay, no payment terms though.

Is Michael Thurmond System OK during Pregnancy?

    Q

Sunny, I got the following information from the Provida bulletin board from one of their "makeover specialists". Provida is the company behind Michael Thurmond's system http://66.34.82.201/cgi-bin/bbs/topic.cgi?forum=11&topic=6 The 6 Week Body Makeover program does teach excellent eating habits and provides you with a terrific way to lose weight and keep it off in a healthy way. However, the eating program is truly not designed for pregnant and/or nursing bodies. This does not mean you have to forget all your new habits and what you've learned once you become pregnant, but your body will have different needs and requirements. Bring your eating plan to your physician and talk to him/her about what additional supplements and food you will need once you become pregnant. Hello all,

I've been following the threads and I have to say that I'm torn by the pro's and cons. Also, I'm a full time student. If I should somehow scrape up the funds for the plan, does anyone have any suggestions about how to follow it while in school? I don't have much time at all between classes so the mid morning and afternoon meals would be hard for me. I have about 10 min. to get to the next class. Anyone? Anyone?

    Thanks...Ellie

    Ellie,
I work full time and what I do is I prepare ahead of time. I microwave chicken breasts then take a 2 ounce portion with some fruit(grapefruit, cantaloupe or pinapple chunks) and put it in a glad disposable container. So when I leave for school in the am I bring my lunch(usually the chili recipe over half a potatoe) and bring two containers with the chicken and the fruit, it is fast and easy and have been known to eat it with my fingers..(bring a napkin) I think the key to sucess with this program is cooking ahead of time and freezing individual meals for lunch and for dinner. I started this program on Oct 11( 2 1/2 weeks ago) and I have lost an amazing 19 pounds. I find it has almost(note almost) been painless. I wish You success...

Hi everyone, I thought I would join this thread. I have not lost alot of weight. I am hoping that the next three weeks will show a significant improvement in weight lose. I seem to be fluctuating. But the time of the month is over and I hope things will come back into balance now. I'll let you know. I weigh in on Wed. It will be the beginning of my 4th week.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Annie, Chantel and Maxamo for your updates... Keep them coming! Today is day one for me, turned out to be a type B. I am 5' 10" and weigh 200. My first goal is 40 lbs. off, will take a couple of cycles... I am okay with the food, I am going to try the precooking of weekly lunches, etc. I think the weigh once a week will be okay for me too. I haven't read very much of the material but will get through it. Keep up the good work gang! :o)

hello all! Congrats to those of you who are losing weight! I bought the program back in may(of couse i didnt get it until june. I put off starting it because we were moving. Then I just never bothered because i didn't think I coukld live on the food plan! But it seems it is working well for you all! i am a stay at home mom so i don't have the time issue to deal with.

I am 5 ft 6 and about 200! i would like to lose 60 pounds so I guess it will take me two go rounds to get there. Are you all doing the exercise too? How is that going? I have been doing a workout with similar resistance bands and riding my bike 3 times a week so I think I am ready for that part!

Good luck to those of you just starting out!

Hi I am new to the boards, I have order MT and it should arrive today. I need to lose 100pounds, But I will take one day at a time. I seem to gain my weight when I got married and then after my daughter was born Dec 22, 1999. My husband is also over weight and says he will try it (only if it works for me) but he is supportive and says I look great the way I am.

Well I am excited and can Hardly wait.

Thanks for let me vent :)

Heather - Start today girl! I am also 5.6" and I once weighed 200. This is a doable program. Especially since you are at home, you can cook and drink tons of water! No public bathrooms lol! I hate those... I also am a stay at home mom.

Susan - Let us know what letter you are and keep posting. It helps. You can do it! Start by drinking 100 ounces of water.
After a bit of practise, this program is easy. At least I think so.

Well, I am off and running!
    Bye!

PS: I lost 3 inches off my waist. Very cool!

I noticed that they are going to start not letting us post in January if we don't make a donation and that there are no yahoo clubs for people on or interested in this program so I have started one! I hope you will all stop by! Hello everyone,
I just ordered the 6 week makeover. I have been trying to lose about 60 pounds. A few years ago I had great success with Nutrisystem but they folded up and left my area. Can now only purchase through web. Decided that was too expensive and quit. Maintained my wieghtloss for about two years though. Unfortunately the wieght has returned. Some co-workers talked me into Weightwatchers and I have gone for 9 weeks now and only lost 7 pounds and I am hungry alot. Needless to say I am a little disappointed. I am hoping that this plan will help me drop the weight a little faster and that I will not be as hungry. Best wishes and good luck to all those who are trying and thinking about trying the Michael Thurmond's 6 week makeover. Here's hoping it is not to good to be true.

    Good Morning,
Today is twenty days and the weight loss is twenty pounds(much slower loss this last week..) I am feeling great and am energized.
Chantel, You go girl!! You are doing great!
    Sue, Welcome and happy trails..
Gina, You must be two days into it now, how is it going?
Heather, time you used your kit!!
    Ellie, keep us posted.
Certifiable..(love the nick) dont get discouraged it can take awhile for the kit to appear at your door.
Now for the big question, How does everyone plan on handling Thanksgiving?
I have been toying with the idea that if I have 30 pounds off I will take the day off and eat and drink in moderation, any opinions on that?
I wish you all a peaceful day

Hi, this is Tonya!!!! As I posted on an earilier, I got my package and was supposed to start sunday...well I started monday and have already cheated. :o(
To the other "beginners" of the program...it is imperative that you prepare your meals or else you leave room for error or a slip up. I'm disappointed with myself already but I'm going to get back on track. I'll be at the farmers market as well as some grocery stores this weekend. As a body type b and some wild body part numbers, I have a lot of exercises to do and it will definitely take more than 18 minutes...to me, that's not enough time anyway...when I work out, I work out so I think I'll be reaping even better results by doing beyond what the plan perscribes.

I really hope this plan works because I have tried too many other things and have wasted over a thousand dollars on pills, drinks, groceries that will help you lost 10 pounds in a week!! (yeah right) and sooo much more...this is my last resort....I can't wait to see my new body that's what drives me to do this and to do it right.

Tomorrow, I'm going to wake up, hit the bands, I think I'll incorporate weights in with that..and hit the treadmill afterwards for a half hour.....It's so hard to prepare meals though...that's my challenge. I'm a full time 8-5 worker and a part time student that zooms directly from my job to class that begins at 6!! On my way to school monday, I ate on the road!!!! sounds ghetto.... but hey, I guess that's what I have to do to get in each meal!! I've never eaten this many times a day....I've done from one meal a day to the traditional 3 meals a day with junk food snacks in between but I love the way I've begun eating....the meals I can play with the spice them up but it's just the number of times I have to eat them! :o) Sorry if I got a little wordy but to those who are beginning the program..use me as an example and begin RIGHT....prepare everything the day before...buy your groceries in bulk because they'll definitely go within a week! and exercise....don't give up so soon like I did....I'm going to get back on track though because if the program works for all of the others...I know It'll work for me.....

    Good Morning all!
Today is the midway point,(of at least the first six weeks..lol) As of this morning I have lost 22 pounds. It is just so incredible and to think I survived Halloween without one piece of candy( and I went to a party...brought my own dinner). The holidays are approaching fast and furious and I pray I have the will power to handle them with success.....Tommorrow I will do my measurements and see what has happened in that department. I wish you all a fun first day of November....

    Good morning everyone-

I have been reading the threads for some time now, and thought I'd finally put my two cents in. I have been doing the program for 6 weeks (with one cheat day -- Halloween, I suck :) I have lost 15 pounds and 12 inches. I am very happy with the results. I have found that I must prepare my foods in advance. If I get lazy or don't have time to steam veggies, I get into trouble. It is so much easier to have pre-portioned protein and veggie just waiting for me. So anyway, I just wanted to congratulate those who have lost and get in on the discussion.

Good luck to everyone and keep motivated!

    Morning,
Today is the 23rd day on the program and I have lost an incredible 24 pounds. To me is seems unreal that it is just dropping off, have taken before pictures and one every week. Welcome Andy, and I agree with you, one has to be prepared, I spent three hours cooking last night, made the chili, the jambalya, and the stuffed peppers. I also made the turkey sausage.. I now have enough for 13 days of lunch and dinner... Well I am off to go canoeing, have a great one all.

Annie and Andy! How inspiring you 2 are!

Annie: Can you post the recipe for the stuffed peppers? Or email it to me? I do not have the package. My mom bought the program and we do not live together.
    Thanks!

Well, I have not yet measured but I am sticking to it.
Hope to get around to measuring next week when I have more time.

    Bye all
    Chantel

PS: I bought this guys book over the internet for 10.00 dollars and I did my body fat! Oh my gosh, 34% it said.
    I am 5'6 1/2", I weigh 171 and my waist in inches is 34.
I was so shocked and saddened. He said the best is 22% for women. If that doesn't keep me on the staright and narrow, what will?

  • annnieb
    Original Author

Chantel, here is the recipe as I use it:
    8 green peppers
    1 pound ground turkey
    4 cups rice cooked
chopped green pepper(use the tops minus stem..lol)
    1 onion chopped
    2 cups mushrooms
    garlic to taste
    1 cup tomato sauce(low sodium)
    Italian seasonings( minus salt)
    lots of pepper
I slice off the tops of the peppers remove the core and seeds then par boil them for about 7 minutes( not too squishy though)
I mix the rice and the seasonings in a bowl
In a large non stick pan I saute onion, mushrooms, garlic and ground turkey over medium heat until fully cooked, add the tomato sauce and simmer it, then I stir it into the rice mixture, I fill each pepper with the mixture til over flowing, let them cool and freeze them in a ziplock baggy, I then take them as needed through out the week. It is great for lunch microwaved ..
There is usally left over filling even though there is not supposed to be so I bag it as extra servings and eat it with an added veggie like fresh green beans. Happy cooking!
Another thing I found at Sam's club is a large bag of fruit flash frozen with peaches, melon, pineapple, and strawberries, I sprinkle sweet and low on them while they defrost, I find them delicious the package also has grapes in it and seeing that is a "c" fruit I discard them...
    Have a great day all.

I don't like green peppers, cauliflower, and other things like that, as far as veggies, brocolli, corn, peas and green beans are it for me, oh and I do like kohrabi, but I don't like fish. Could you give me a sample meal?? TIA

Ok...I am new to the forum, and am rather upset that they are changing it to a pay to post forum. But beyond that, I got my system off of eBay, its a Christmas gift from my boyfriends mother, so I will be starting on New Years Day...gotta get my drink on before I go gung ho! I just wanted to let you all know that because of this forum I am beyond motivated to get on this program and stay motivated to lose a good 60 lbs before my 25th birthday. I think it is totally possible, considering I am giving myself 6 months to lose that weight. By Christmas I hope to have lost 150 lbs. That is my ultimate goal. I am 5'6" and 300 pound currently. I blame it on genetics, and lack of self control. But I think that is all going to change. I will keep you all posted on the yahoo board...or through email, however...keep up the good work, and thanks for the motivation!!

Thanks annie, I ordered the program over the internet and they said it would be here 5-7 days, I did the test on their website and it said I am type A. May I ask if that is what you are. That menu doesn't sound to bad. The last week I have been on a reduced carb diet per dr orders for diabetes. My typical day is two piece light wheat toast w/ spray butter for breakfast, lunch is usually chicken and fruit, and dinner is usually salad, baked potato, and small portion of what I fixed for the kids. Hopefully I can adjust to this program it sounds great!! I have lost 3lbs on the reduced carb, been on it for 6 days, hopefully this program will speed it up.

    Happy belated Thanksgiving-

well, I have been trying to keep up with the posts and AnnieB, your results are great! Good for you!!!

I read my original post and I made an error, at 3 weeks I had lost 15 pounds. Well, I got off the plan due to a trip to Paris (no way I am giving up wine, cheese and chocolate when I am in the good food capital). But I am back on the palan and it feels great to see the scale moving again. 18 down and only 30 more pounds to go. We are snowed in here and I am fighting the urge to eat warm, comfort foods! So I am off to make some tuna! If anyone has some good recipes, I would love to see them! Thanks!
