Gliders - need advice

So far I've seen three different kinds mentioned, the XL, the Gazelle, and the Mia Something or other. Do any of these have a website I can go to, to get more information? I've tried searching by myself, but didn't get much.

Also, what are the weight limits to the 3 different machines? Does anyone know? I'm just a few lbs over the 250 limit one of 'em has. Would this make a difference? My husband is about 20 lbs over the limit -- would that be too much?

I'd also love to get one for the least money possible. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I know that you can get the Gazelle Glider at the shopping channel. My friend just bought one and she loves it. The web site is www.tsc.ca once there go to fitness, then weight loss and the Tony little's gazelle $229.99 canadian.

I mentioned on a different thread that Dicks Sporting goods ( a competitor of Sports Authority ) has the GAZELLE on sale for $199.

Beautiful color choices! Its lovely now and your girls did a great job picking the paint. Sorry your Mom doesn't like it but maybe it will grow on her. Feel for you with all those cars for a "view". I had a neighbor like that at my last house, tho his entire backyard was full of them. Finally we put those slats in the fence so I could sit out and not have to stare at the darn things. hugs, Karen

XL Glider -vs- Gazelle Glider

I have an XL Glider, and I love it too. My husband found out why it squeaks. Because they come preassembled, they are painted and assembled very quickly. When the paint comes off after using and folding/storing it, the metal rubs a bit on the joint that crosses. He put a thin plastic washer in between the two poles and WaLaa! No more squeaks! (he has the allen wrenches that are required to seperate the poles, you may need to purchase them). These are the joints that the manual says to check and make sure that they are tight before using. You could lubricate the joint, I suppose, but I haven't had a squeak since. It was so annoying, I use mine every other day in the morning, I am so happy now. Jainie

Other than the metal reclining mechanisms made in China, their are about 3 manufacturers in the US that build the reclining (power also) mechanisms. No upholstery manufacturer builds their own in the US. So everybody sources from the same manufacturers. Their is no-doubt that US built mechanisms is better than the imported (Chinese). So stay away from any upholstery manufacturer that imports their mechanisms; Berkline / Lazyboy as examples. The better quality American made mechanisms you can find in manufacturers such as Bradington-Young and Hancock-Moore. Both should use HR foam in the seats which should last about 5 years under normal use. But they the mechanisms still have a limited life of use, where as stationary upholstery doesnt have those problems.

Thanks everyone. I know it seems great to have all these windows and I am definitely not complaining, but we realize we could have had almost the same effect and light with 8 instead of 10 - and saved a lot of money (in cost of windows and framing) but the architect shows you the drawings and you think wow, that looks good, and you don't think about whether or not it will be practical in use. Our architect came up with that to remedy an really unfortunate addition done by former owner. They stuck on a weirdly designed very 1980's round addition to a 1920's Dutch Colonial - but in a completely different style from original and tried to make it look somewhat like a lighthouse. From the outside, it just looked like a big round mass of stucco, now it looks much better. But I digress... Anyway, that's a good idea about the remote control shades/blinds. Do you know if they work well over time. I like technology, but just want to make sure they are not repair prone. I guess I can search and see if there are any threads about that.

nevermind, dont bother with QVC if you live in Canada because it is simply too large and unfortunatly they cannot ship it out here :(.

Don't know if you are still interested but I brought a Gazelle off of www.target.com and I love it, it was $199 it has a 350 weight limit! I have had mine about a week and lost 4 pounds already!

This weekend I bought a Glider for one dollar at a Garage sale. It's computer doesn't work but for a buck I can look at a clock. I used mine today and love it. I will used when it rains here in beautiful Pacfic Northwest and can't get out to walk.

My sister bought the Gazelle last month. Her and her son have been using it with great results. I am still loving my Glider. This truly is a great form of excersize.

I love my Gazelle. I bought the more expensive model with the tension bars for when I get better at it.
