correct way to train

Could someone please help. I am 50 years old and walk/jog 5 miles a day and someone told me I shouldn't do it everyday what is the correct way to handle this workout. Thanks

I asked my husband's physical therapist the best way for me (age 53) to lose weight and firm up my body. He said "Walk outdoors." Who told you not to walk or jog or run? Do you have pain or injuries?
