RE: Which Gyms?

I belong to the YMCA and like it a lot. They have over 50 classes a week ranging from classes for seniors to challenging step aerobics classes, also yoga, pilates, stretch, and others. The machines are hooked up to a computer so you can punch in your number, and the computer keeps track of your workout. There are lots of friendly people there too, no intimidating body-builder types.

Are you thinking of joining a gym?

I'm thinking of joining Spectrum -$94 a month, no initiation fee.

No I go to 24 Hour fitness, but its cool to hear about other peoples' gyms and what its like there. I've been to a YMCA before but not in the workout area. I also see many local gyms around but never been inside. I like it at 24 Hour Fitness though, they also have big variety of classes and almost all the classes are free with your membership. the staff is also friendly and they can show you how to use all those machines lol

I used to go to YMCA, but the parking lot was horrible, so I quit going.

Does anyone like to work out really late at night, or even early in the morning?

We belong to our Community Y. It's $44/month for our entire family, which is two adults and two teenagers. DH walks/runs the treadmill and I usually bike for an hour each. We also lift weights. We're not big on classes, preferring to do our own thing for cardio. We usually go after work--around 6 p.m.--on weekdays and late morning/early afternoon on the weekends. I enjoy the diversity of machines and people found at our Y.

RE: Which Gyms?

I have my own home gym. We have a treadmill, exercise bike, and a weight machine. I have personal issues about working out in front of other people (just don't like that feeling that everyone is staring at me, even though I know it's imagined), and I don't like how time consuming it is to go to the gym...driving to it, parking, showering, etc. Those are two big hurdles that make it very likely that I will make an excuse not to go to the gym if I did sign up with one. As it is, I can just come home from work, change into my workout clothes, and start working out right away in my own private space. Takes me 40 minutes, then a quick shower, and then I'm there at home already, and can immediately enjoy the rest of my evening ;) And I get to pick what's on the TV while I'm working out...

Forcing myself to work out is hard enough as it is, so I try to make it as enjoyable and easily available as possible. I really have no excuse not to exercise, when the gym is literally in my house.

I'm usually busy also, with work and school. I like that 24 hour fitness has good hours and some are even open 24 hours a day. On weekends I like going on really late at night , when theres barely anyone there, and then I can go home to a nice shower, and even better I can sleep in the next day.
