hi i am so glad that these posts are recent. i am concerned about the leaching of chemicals when i use plastic containers, or wood (might have been "treated"). i know nothing about this possibility and need some sources. uv was mentioned in this forum. hope that someone here knows where to start to become informed. would appreciate any info!!!!! the reason that i think i need to grow in containers is, i feed the wild birds and they have taken over the yard, and i am concerned their droppings carry diseases. (i am glad that they have taken over the yard - they give me many pleasant moments) any thoughts on leaching and chemical contamination from the plastic milwaukee

Moni I missed the part where you got a house but I am so happy for you and the moving memory goes away fast when you get settled in your new place. I thought of you this week as we had a couple of bikers as neighbors in the park where we stayed. They were on a tandem and pitched a tent behind us. They were from North Carolina and had flown down to Florida and were coming up and across the country before heading back home. I was going to ask if by chance they might know you and then I realized that I didn't even know your real name so I just asked if they had any biker buddies from OK or Edmond, OK and they said no so it didn't matter about the name....but I sure did think of you when I saw their set up since I read you blog when you were traveling....

They make good seed/plant starters. They hold enough soil to get good root growth on the plants before setting them out. And you tear off the carton when planting, no tipping plants out of pots, losing soil or damaging roots. I also use them them with some of my concrete projects. Among other things they make good molds for edging "bricks". I have a friend who filled them with concrete and used the resulting "brick" vertically to support and hide an ugly raised bed in her garden.

A KVM switch can work very well. Just make sure it can handle your hardware. All the keyboards and mices must use the same interface, and the monitors may have difficulty if you are using high resolution displays. VGA works fine, but if you are using a "full HD" monitor, be careful.
