Tablecloth?

Posted by mrsc (My Page) on

How do you protect pretty tablecloths? I usually cover up with clear plastic. It's practical but I don't like it. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Mrs. C.

Wash it when it gets dirty......clear plastic over anything but food in the refrigerator is tackiest of the tacky.
I take that back...I do have a clear plastic cloth....but I put it on a table UNDER the cloth if I am suspicious that something will get spilled....to protect the table, not the cloth.

My white cotton "hotel-style" tablecloth can be thrown in the washer with detergent and bleach and then thrown in the dryer. Natural fabrics are generally easier to clean. I avoid synthetic tablecloths because they seem to hold on to the fat/oil/grease in spilled food. Like Linda, I'm more inclined to protect the table than the cloth.

I own some of these, and friends SWEAR by them. Wear like iron, survive multiple washings, and wipe down well. The coated cotton ones are the best. She sells at our holiday boutique every year. They are as beautiful as they seem.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm looking forward to seeing the new Provence tablecloths for the season. Thanks for the link, Jessy.
