Moms & Tots Holiday Tea Party

Although I'll be serving hot cocoa instead of tea.

I'm hainvg a few moms & their toddlers over for my 2nd annual holiday kiddie tea party. I am planning on making tea sandwiches: tuna, egg salad, ham with butter, pimento spread, cucumber & relish spread and peanut butter & jelly for the kids.

I also like to serve fresh fruit & small desserts - choc pudding in mini graham cracker shells, mini key lime pies, cookies, brownies. Any other suggestions for easy to make yet impressive small desserts that will be liked by toddlers &/or adults?

Michie

petit fours. I've never made them myself, but don't they scream tea party? you can make them look like little Christmas gifts.

Athens brand makes small (2 bite) phylo cups that work well. Depending on the age of the tots, a couple of small tarts instead of one larger one could be nice (and easier to pick up after). I have filled them with key lime curd, lemon curd and chocolate moose (sorry I don't spell well today!). If you do the chocolate, top it with a stemmed cherry or a strawberry -- the kids will love it.

I have also served jam and cream cheese sandwiches to children, strawberry or grape jelly. Use you small decorative cookie cutters to make fun shapes out of the sandwiches.

You could also use the clear plastic highball glasses & layer red & green jello in them, topped with a mound of whipped cream...the kids will enjoy as will the moms who are weight watching..and they'll look Christmassy! You could dice up fresh strawberries & sprinkle on top of the whipped cream. Make a trayful & cover w/plastic wrap-then simply top w/whipped cream & garnish just before serving.
