Thanksgiving Table

I'm having 14 to 16 people for Thanksgiving dinner, I'm looking for an unusual placecard. One year I soaked fall leave in glycerin and wrote the name on with gold pen. This year I'm having a mental block!!!! Help!!!!

You could continue the leaf theme and add a selection of nuts piled like a squirels cache with the name written on a large nut.

small apples, written on, or with the name carved, or spelled out with cloves

purchase the turkey shaped chocolates and lean the place card against it or attach with a touch of glue to the back of the tail feathers if they are foil wrapped, use frosting if they are not, (also if they are not wrapped, you might want to lay down a paper doiley, covered with toasted coconut straw to prevent chocolate transfering to your table or tablecloth.

Marzipan fruit cornucopias at each place setting

I can't think of any other right now.

HOw did you do the leafs in glycerin? Sounds like they'd be beautiful! Did you pick the leaves just at their peak of color? Dip them while still 'fresh', or were they dry??

Lynn4, I went on a leaf hunt, red, and orange leaves were better. I washed them off and soaked them in the glycerin for a day. To be truthful I had read it a long time be before I did it and I'm not sure I did it the way the direction said. I worked for what I needed.

THose little tiny ornamental pumpkins or maybe they are actually squash, make nice place markers with hand written leaf tied to the stem.

Martha Stewart has some nice downloadable clip art place cards that look really nice.

Here is a link that might be useful: Clipart place markers

I've never soaked my leaves in glycerin, instead I just press and dry them after picking them at their peak. It takes about 2 weeks. They're very delicate and beautiful.

I use them for place cards, for decorating and often tuck them into invitations.

How about pretty placecards held by large pinecones? Even better if you can lightly spray the pinecones with paint (I like gold- did it for Yule)and/or add a couple of drops of potpourri oil for a nice scent (cinamon is always fall-ish to me).

Put them in gourds? Tape them to gourds? Gourds, gourds, gourds, gourds
