how to transport appetisers/tapas

| I was thinking of making some pincho (basically a bruschetta - and I'd make ones with different toppings that aren't too soggy) to a party this weekend. Do you folks have any suggestions for how to package and transport a large quantity of these? I will not be able to assemble them at the party - so I have to prepare them ahead of time - figure stacking isn't a good option... Is there some kind of special plate that I could use? Oh, by the way, this is not a fancy party - basically a Beer Fest. Just wanted to take something *different* this time! Thanks for any suggestions you can give me!!!!!!!11 |

| Any time I've seen bruschetta transported, it's been assembled at the party. I hope it holds up for you. Not sure what your toppings are, but you may want to add a spread (cream cheese) or something so that the toppings don't sink into/soak the bread too much. Not sure how to keep the toppings from shifting during the ride. Are you sure you can't assemble there? That seems like the easy answer. If not, I'd probably just cover trays with foil as tightly as you can without ruining the toppings, then put in boxes or other type carriers and hope for the best. |

Thanks for the response. Somehow, I see this going terribly wrong - especially with your mention of shifting in the car. Yikes. Maybe I better switch gears and see what else I can come up with..... maybe something like the Open Face Turkey Chili sandwich I saw in Southern Living ... Yum. that should be quick/easy to assemble once at the bash!

| You know you should post your question over on the cooking forum too; you may get more responses there. There may be some very doable ways to transport your stuff. I don't have a lot of experience transporating food. Good luck whatever you choose to do. |

| I don't think it would be a big deal to pack the bread and the toppings separately, then assemble them at the party. It won't take long. That's what I'd do. |

You first wrote, "I will not be able to assemble them at the party", so I thought there was some reason you would not have time or access to a spot at the party to do the assembly. So you're thinking that the turkey sandwich will be quicker/easier to assemble than the bruschetta? I don't know the recipe for the turkey sand, but it seems to me that the bruschetta is one step, spoon topping on bread, place in dish. Is the turkey sand simpler than that? |
