Wall Mounting TV

I have one of those articulating wall mounts that I want to mount a 32" LCD tv to the wall in the photo. The TV weighs about 45lbs.

I'm not 100% sure if this wall is sheetrock or plaster, but I've been told that the walls in other parts of the house were plaster so I'm assuming this is, too, especially since my electronic stud finder tends to be somewhat useless and reports studs in odd places.

Behind the wall is what I believe to be the chimney. I'm not sure if the wall is right up against it.

If I could find studs, this would be a simple job but because of the circumstances, I'm not really sure how to best do this.

RE: Wall Mounting TV

You might want to post this in another forum...perhaps remodeling ... this one is for renewable energy so you probably won't get many replies here.
