Should I add this to my new construction home?

I bought a set of solar panels sight unseen while I was in Afghanistan. The system is made up of 8x 75watt Siemens solar panels (12 or 24 volt switchable). It came in a nice metal case with wheels and the panels have folding stands attached to them. Inside the case there was a Morningstar charge controller and 2 Deka solar batteries and all the cabling for a solar generator so to speak. The whole system is new, old stock. It's never been hooked up.

My thinking is that I can get an inverter (http://www.affordable-solar.com/store/solar-inverters-grid-tied/sunny-boy-700-sbd-inverter-display) and connect them that way. I can put them on my garage which has a nice southern exposure.

I live in ND and can't decide if it would be worth it or not. What do you think?
