Hooping 101

Posted by jazz_myn (My Page) on

I am completely new to machine embroidery and am having an awful time with my design "moving" under the hoop. The design will stitch out fine and then the black outline will start stitching like the hoop has been moved. The hoop screws seem to be supertight - not sure if I'm pulling fabric too tight or too loose, but I'm hoping someone can offer a Hooping 101 lesson? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have all kinds of ideas for Christmas presents on my new machine ... if only I knew how to use it! Thanks in advance for any guidance you might be able to offer.

RE: Hooping 101

I find I get better results if I don't hoop the fabric. I hoop the stabiliser, then spray it lightly with 505 basting spray then I stick the fabric to the spray. You can also pin out of the way of the design.

RE: Hooping 101

What you say makes sense, "not to hoop the fabric"
I didn't buy any basting spray, but will do so on Tuesday as I am home all day on Wednesday and can work on the tee-shirts and a few other things.
I am very green with the new machine but I am sure with guidance will become excellent at it.
I thankyou in advance of any tips you can give me.

I am trying to start a business up embroidering a logo for the place I work as they have great difficulty in getting their shirts back under 3 weeks, I am hoping to have them back in 72 hours but at this rate it will be 3 months!!!!

Many thanks,
