CE-200 buttonholder

Does anyone have some tips as to using the buttonhole attachment for the Futura CE-200? It seems to go in just the opposite direction from my older Pfaff machine. I seem to have a hard time getting it to line up with my bottom mark for the buttonhole.

Also, which thread have you found is the best to use for embroidery?
