I made some a couple of years ago. I embroidered a small design with my machine, then used one of the decorative scallopy stitches around the edges. I think I made them 5-6" square - I just put the fabric over the top and decided how big would look good. Then I trimmed outside the scallopy stitch, put them on top of the jars, put a rubber band around them and tied a ribbon around that to hide the rubber band.
